What to Eat, Drink and Expect During a Juicy J’s Juice Cleanse

What to Eat, Drink and Expect During a Juicy J’s Juice Cleanse

What to Eat, Drink and Expect During a Juicy J’s Juice Cleanse

A real, detailed, truth-mode guide from Juicy J’s Juice LLC

If you're thinking about doing a juice cleanse, one of the first questions you probably have is: “Am I supposed to stop eating?”

Then comes everything else.

How many bottles of juice should you drink? How much water should you drink? Are you allowed to eat dinner? Can you eat chicken? What about eggs? Are you supposed to live on juice for three days? What happens if you get hungry? And does a cleanse really “detox” your body?

At Juicy J’s Juice LLC, we want to answer those questions without making wellness sound harder, scarier or more magical than it actually is.

Truth mode: you do not have to starve yourself to do a Juicy J’s Juice cleanse.

We do not believe you need to spend several days surviving on juice alone while ignoring hunger, weakness or dizziness. We also do not want customers believing that juice is somehow doing the work of their liver or kidneys.

Instead, we encourage customers to think of a cleanse as a short-term reset: a period when you become more intentional about your food, drink more water, add cold-pressed juice to your routine, eat simpler whole foods, and temporarily reduce foods and drinks that may have become a little too common in your day.

WHAT DOES “JUICE CLEANSE” MEAN AT JUICY J’S JUICE?

When we say “cleanse,” we're not promising that a bottle of juice is going to wash toxins out of your body.

Your body already has systems responsible for processing waste and keeping things functioning, including your liver and kidneys.

Our idea of a cleanse is much simpler.

For one or several days, you intentionally focus on:

  • Cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juices
  • Spring water or another safe drinking water
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Whole fruits
  • Lean or plant-based proteins
  • Healthy fats
  • Fiber-rich foods
  • Simple meals
  • Rest
  • More intentional eating

At the same time, you temporarily reduce things such as fried foods, fast food, excessive sweets, alcohol, soda and heavily processed snack foods.

That is the kind of reset we're talking about.

DO YOU HAVE TO STOP EATING SOLID FOOD?

No.

We cannot say that strongly enough.

Juice can be a convenient way to include fruits, vegetables and plant nutrients in your day, but juicing removes much of the natural fiber found in whole produce.

Your body also still needs protein, healthy fats, fiber and enough overall food to function.

So if you're hungry during your cleanse, eat.

Hunger is not proof that your cleanse is “working.”

You do not get extra wellness points for being miserable.

HOW MUCH JUICY J’S JUICE SHOULD YOU DRINK?

There is no medically established magic number of bottles that automatically turns a day into a cleanse.

For customers doing a food-inclusive Juicy J’s Juice reset, a practical starting point can be:

2–3 of our 12-ounce juices spread throughout the day.

That gives you approximately 24–36 ounces of cold-pressed juice.

You do not have to drink all of your bottles back-to-back.

Spacing them out makes much more sense.

For example:

  • Juice #1: Morning
  • Juice #2: Midday or early afternoon
  • Juice #3: Optional later-afternoon juice

If two bottles work better for you, drink two.

If you're already eating a full, balanced day of food, there is no reason to force extra juice simply because you bought a cleanse bundle.

More juice does not automatically mean better results.

START YOUR DAY WITH WATER

Before immediately reaching for a bottle of juice, consider starting your morning with a glass of water.

You can use spring water if that is your preference, but spring water itself is not a requirement for doing a cleanse.

The bigger goal is simply to stay hydrated.

Your hydration needs depend on many factors, including your body size, activity level, weather, how much you sweat, medications, health conditions and the amount of fluid you're already getting from food, juice and other beverages.

There is no reason to force yourself to drink a gallon of water just because social media told you that's what a cleanse requires.

A simple approach for many people is to sip water consistently throughout the day instead of trying to drink large amounts at once.

A SIMPLE DAILY WATER ROUTINE

Your day could look something like this:

  • A glass of water after waking up
  • Water between breakfast and lunch
  • Water between your juices
  • Water with meals if desired
  • Water throughout the afternoon
  • Water in the evening according to thirst

Many adults may find roughly 8–12 cups of fluids throughout the day comfortable, but this is not a rule that fits everybody.

Remember that your cold-pressed juice, fruits, vegetables, soups and other beverages also contribute fluid to your daily intake.

Do not force excessive amounts of water.

WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT DURING YOUR CLEANSE?

This is where we want to make things very easy.

You do not need specialty “detox food.”

You don't need expensive powders.

You don't need to eat anything weird.

Eat real food.

VEGETABLES

Vegetables can make up a large portion of your meals during your reset.

Good options include:

  • Spinach
  • Collard greens
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Carrots
  • Green beans
  • Zucchini
  • Squash
  • Asparagus
  • Bell peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Celery
  • Tomatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Mixed salad greens
  • Sweet potatoes

Steam them, roast them, bake them, eat them raw or lightly sauté them.

WHOLE FRUIT

Yes, you can still eat fruit even though you're drinking juice.

Whole fruit gives you something your cold-pressed juice does not contain in the same amount: fiber.

Consider:

  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Berries
  • Kiwi
  • Oranges
  • Peaches
  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Bananas
  • Melons

Whole fruit makes a convenient snack if hunger hits between meals.

PROTEIN

Please don't forget protein.

A juice reset does not mean protein disappears from your life.

Depending on how you normally eat, options can include:

  • Eggs
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Fish
  • Beans
  • Lentils
  • Chickpeas
  • Tofu
  • Tempeh

Protein can help turn your light meal into an actual nourishing meal instead of something that leaves you hungry 30 minutes later.

HEALTHY FATS

You can also include moderate portions of foods such as:

  • Avocado
  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • Pecans
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Chia seeds
  • Ground flaxseed
  • Natural peanut or almond butter
  • Olive oil

WHOLE-GRAIN AND FIBER-RICH FOODS

There is nothing wrong with including a reasonable amount of higher-fiber carbohydrates during your cleanse.

Options include:

  • Oatmeal
  • Brown rice
  • Quinoa
  • Whole-grain bread
  • Beans
  • Lentils
  • Sweet potatoes

If you're physically active, working long hours or on your feet most of the day, you may especially appreciate having some filling foods in your plan.

WHAT DOES A CLEANSE MEAL ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

We don't want to just tell you to “eat clean” and leave you trying to figure out what that means.

BREAKFAST IDEAS

  • Oatmeal with berries and chia seeds
  • Eggs with spinach and avocado
  • Plain Greek yogurt with berries and walnuts
  • Whole-grain toast with avocado and an egg

LUNCH IDEAS

  • Large salad with vegetables and grilled chicken
  • Salad with chickpeas, avocado and vegetables
  • Vegetable and lentil soup
  • Brown rice bowl with vegetables and beans

DINNER IDEAS

  • Baked fish with broccoli and sweet potato
  • Grilled chicken with roasted vegetables
  • Quinoa with vegetables and chickpeas
  • Bean and vegetable soup with a small side salad

SNACK IDEAS

  • Apple with natural peanut butter
  • Berries with plain Greek yogurt
  • Carrots and hummus
  • Cucumber slices and hummus
  • A small handful of nuts
  • Whole fruit

WHAT SHOULD YOU LIMIT DURING YOUR RESET?

Notice that we said limit.

We're not interested in making customers feel guilty about food.

For a short reset, consider cutting back on:

  • Deep-fried foods
  • Fast food
  • Heavy greasy meals
  • Candy
  • Cookies
  • Cakes and pastries
  • Soda
  • Sweetened tea
  • Energy drinks
  • Highly processed snack foods
  • Large amounts of processed meats
  • Excessive alcohol

You may also want to reduce large amounts of added sugar so you're not drinking cold-pressed juice while continuing to load your day with sugary drinks and desserts.

WHAT WE DO NOT RECOMMEND

We are going to be especially transparent here.

We do not recommend turning your reset into a competition to see how little you can eat.

We also do not recommend combining your juices with:

  • Laxative “detox” teas
  • Colon-cleansing products
  • Unnecessary detox pills
  • Extreme fasting
  • Very low-calorie diets
  • Massive amounts of water

A wellness routine should not be built around dehydration, diarrhea, exhaustion or hunger.

WHAT IF YOU GET HUNGRY?

Eat.

That is the answer.

Don't convince yourself that hunger means toxins are leaving your body.

If your body is asking for food, choose something nourishing.

A small meal or snack does not mean you failed your cleanse.

This isn't punishment.

WHAT IF YOU FEEL WEAK OR DIZZY?

Stop and pay attention.

Mild hunger is one thing.

Significant weakness, dizziness, fainting, confusion, persistent vomiting, a racing heartbeat, severe abdominal pain or other concerning symptoms are not something you should ignore because somebody online called it “detox symptoms.”

Stop the cleanse and seek appropriate medical advice or care if you're experiencing concerning symptoms.

HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR RESET LAST?

We're much more comfortable describing our cleanse as a short-term reset than encouraging customers to go weeks living on juice.

A day or several days of more intentional eating can be enough to help you refocus your routine.

If you're planning to eliminate solid food, drastically cut calories or follow a highly restrictive cleanse for an extended period, speak with a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before doing it.

IMPORTANT: JUICY J’S JUICE IS RAW AND UNPASTEURIZED

This is another part of transparency.

Our fresh juices are raw and unpasteurized.

That means they require proper refrigeration and food-safety handling.

Unpasteurized juice may pose a greater foodborne illness risk for young children, pregnant people, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

If you fall into a higher-risk group, speak with your healthcare professional before consuming unpasteurized juice.

IF YOU HAVE A HEALTH CONDITION, PLEASE DON'T COPY A GENERIC CLEANSE PLAN

A cleanse plan from social media is not individualized medical or nutrition advice.

If you manage diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, blood pressure concerns, digestive conditions or another medical condition—or if you take medication that affects blood sugar, blood pressure, kidney function or fluid balance—talk with your healthcare professional before making major dietary or hydration changes.

Your needs may be completely different from somebody else's.
